CONFERENCE COMING: IS*IS And the CROSS: Responding to IS*LAM Today: Saturday, Sept. 12

Dear Friends,

Here’s the big question: Why are we holding conferences on Islam?

First, we seek to educate believers on how they can become effective witnesses to their Muslim neighbours and friends. The mission field is no longer thousands of miles away—it has come to Canada. There are thousands of Muslims living in the greater Toronto area. In our conference, “Loving our Muslim Neighbour” we provide tools and motivation for ordinary believers to start reaching out in love to these newcomers to our country.

Secondly, in our conference on, “ISIS and the Cross” we seek to educate and help Christians understand what Islam is all about. We go to the root texts in the Koran to help us comprehend the worldview of Islam. One of our speakers spends considerable time describing the rise of ISIS, the kinds of actions it is carrying out in the Middle East today, and why it is doing them. The simple truth is this: There is vast ignorance on the subject by millions of Canadians. And often the very media charged with bringing us accurate information does little more than remind us constantly that, “Islam is a religion of peace.” Finally we speak to the question, “What should be our response as Christians in the face of this religion/ideology that is in our news cycle now, every single day.

I feel strongly that Christians should know the times in which we live. Unless we do, we will not know how to respond biblically, nor correctly.

Please mark the date of September 12, 2015 from 8:45am to 1:00pm. On that Saturday, Light the Darkness Ministries is partnering with Reach Beyond Canada to offer an IS*IS and the Cross conference in Mississauga, ON. The conference will be held at Heartland, A Church Connects, 9-145 Traders Blvd. E. Further details of the conference are included in the attachment sent with this email. Admission is free, but there will be a freewill offering during the conference. Please RSVP to this free event by going to ISIS and Cross

See Conference Agenda Below.

Some of you have been to one of these conferences before, but they are never exactly the same as ISIS is a moving target and there is constantly new material to reference. For this occasion, unfortunately Dr. Tony Costa has had to cancel, but he is sending a very able substitute speaker in the person of Steven Martins who works as a staff apologist with the Ezra Institute.
